Over the course of the weekend, I began to edit more of my video. I took a break from filming and began adding much of my footage to iMovie. I began to dissect and sort through the footage I currently have and deciphered where I wanted each clip to go. Tomorrow, there is no school so I am going to the beach to get more footage. After I get a sufficient amount of footage, I will continue to edit my video and begin to close in on the process of this project.

Since the last time I blogged, I have made significant progress. Today, I used my GoPro in addition to other equipment such as a head mount to record a good portion of my video. Gathering numerous friends, I was able to get them to shoot some of the many scenes of my music video with me. In specific, we have a really great shot of one of my friends in a mesmerizing action shot and my other friends doing a bunch of cool things. Soon, I hope to begin to edit more of my video and adding cool effects to add more depth to the video.

Over the course of the weekend, I began to film more and more of my video. On Saturday, I did a few fun things with friends, trying to get good footage to put in my video. Soon, I have to get a mini SD card so I can begin using my GoPro to film. Since Thursday is a PSD, I have made plans with multiple friends so we can film a good portion of my video. If it’s meant to be, hopefully, I can get footage of my friends in different settings than I anticipated, adding to my video.

Today, I continued to work and plan my music video. I only filmed two new scenes and they were very short, however, I decided to focus more on gaining inspiration for my video. This said, I asked multiple students from previous years if I could see their videos to get a better idea of the project. In addition, I began watching random videos on Youtube to get an idea and inspiration on new scenes to include in my music video. I would really like to make this video fun and upbeat, so I continue to think of new scenes for the video, all while listening to the song I’ve chosen.

Over the weekend, I began to plan my video more in depth, in addition, to actually filming. As stated in my last blog post, this video is oriented around the idea of friends. It was only a coincidence that I went on a trip with many of my friends this weekend, allowing me to get great footage for my video. In addition, I spent much time planning and adjusting where in which the song would begin and end within the video. I found it difficult to cut such a long song, in addition to where I could cut the song without it beginning awkwardly or ending that way. Overall, I have made great process and plan to keep filming over the next few weeks.

Today, I began storyboarding for what will be my music video. In all honesty, I chose a pretty difficult video to film and even plan, only because there are so many scenes/shots I hope to have incorporated in the video. My song is called “Line of Sight” by ODESZA. It is very upbeat and is just one of those songs I feel gives people the chills. I have always adored the song, however, when I looked further into the song, I discovered it is primarily about friends and what it means to be one. Friends enjoy each other’s presence and they make life better. This said, my storyboard consisted of the many scenes of my friends I hope to film soon. I hope the music video can be interpreted by the audience as something similar to an ode to some of my best friends.

As stated in my previous blog, my groupmates and I began and finished editing our commercial. Overall, it is a comical commercial intended to mimic that of an infomercial. Now that we have submitted our video, I am anticipating what we will learn next. I would like to practice filming and editing more because its really fun and I enjoy getting into groups. However, learning concepts like that of mise-en-scéne is so interesting and fun, I would love to continue. Whatever we do next, I am very excited about it!

Last class, my groupmates and I began editing and finished. As stated previously, our video was a bit longer than anticipated, so we had a bit of trouble editing to ensure our video was under the time limit set in place. After editing, we were able to actually reduce our commercial time to just about thirty seconds. In addition, my groupmates and I dabbled with using text throughout the end of our video to make the commercial appear more comical and similar to that of a real commercial you would see on television. Overall, I believe our commercial came out fairly well and will take well with viewers who have a good sense of humor.

Yesterday, my groupmates and I finally began to film! Overall, the filming process was fun, however, it was a bit trivial. While we tried to stick to our storyboard, we did realize that our commercial would simply be too long, so we had to cut certain scenes out. However, by cutting scenes out, we altered the rest of our scenes and how they would flow in our commercial, so we had to brainstorm how to affect our commercial less. Another issue we faced was timing. Once we finished the filming aspect of this commercial, editing to ensure we were under our time constraint was difficult for us since we wanted to include so much. By next class, my groupmates and I hope to finish editing our commercial.

Sadly enough, today our group was missing Ashleigh, a vital role in our commercial. Since our filming was delayed, today, Val and I began to tweak our previous storyboards to make our commercial more interesting and compelling to viewers. Specifically, Val and I watched many other commercials to get more ideas. In addition, we watched clips from the show in which our product was derived, aiming to be different from the show’s way of introducing the product. By next week, Val and I aim to begin filming with our last groupmate and begin the strenuous editing process to produce a fabulous commercial!
