Hi, my name is Andrea Casco and I am a senior at Fort Lauderdale High School. I have made this blog to track my progress over the course of this school year in regards to the AICE Media Studies course. In specific, I chose AICE Media Studies because I have always been interested in cinematography and it seemed more interactive than any other courses at my school. Over the course of this school year, I have gained much insight into the many subject areas of Media Studies (e.g. Mise-en-scéne, editing, etc.). I aim to get an A on the AICE Media Studies final Cambridge exam.

Over the weekend, Val and I continued to edit our video. Somehow, however, one of our scenes got deleted from our camera. This said, Val and I had do recreate the scene we lost. While we are still editing, we hope to finish by next class. As stated before, the scene is very simple, yet we want it to mirror that of the scene perfectly.

Since I last blogged, I began to edit my video. Thanks to Gateston and Val’s acting, our scene came together very well and is very cute. One thing I will say, is that editing has been taking a while. Ensuring our scene mirrors that of the movie has been a bit difficult, especially since we’ve never filmed or done anything like this. While we didn’t finish editing, we hope that by next class, we should finish editing and submit our video before the deadline.

Over the course of the weekend, my groupmate and I began to record our movie scene. From the movie To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, the two main characters, Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean Covey share very cute and intimate moments that build up to the relationship they form towards the end of the movie. With my partner, Valerid, playing Lara Jean and our friend Gateston acting as Peter, our scene was not too hard to film considering the minimal amount of movement within the overall scene. It was a bit humorous to watch two friends act in such a flirtatious scene, however, it was overall good acting. By this weekend, Valerid and I aim to have finished editing our video.

Since I last blogged, my groupmate and I further developed our idea for our video. While we liked the initial scene we had chosen, we decided to still keep searching for another scene within the movie we chose primarily to keep our options open. We already have come up with our lead male and female role, however, we continued to search for a scene we might have liked better than the initial one we chose. Perhaps a new scene with more movement and less dialogue. Either way, we decided to stick with the scene we initially chose and aim to begin filming this weekend.

Since the last time I blogged, my groupmate and I developed our idea of the recreation we chose to do a bit more. Not only did we finish storyboarding, but we as well began to decide who would take part in our video. Val, alongside one of our closest friends, will recreate a scene between the characters Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky. The scene is fairly simple with minimal movement, yet has a ton of dialogue. By this weekend, my groupmate and I aim to begin filming.

Today, I began to consider my options as to what movie or TV show scene I could reenact. At first, I was set on reenacting a scene from one of my favorite TV shows, however, I decided to go for a scene from one of my favorite movies. Alongside my partner, Val, we chose a scene from the movie To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. This scene is very cute and minimal, requiring only two people to reenact the scene. The scene is one that is vital to the movie and that many viewers have come to love.

Today, I officially finished my music video. I have done a good portion of filming and editing over the past few weeks, however, today, the final stretch of editing was overdue. In specific, I strategically placed my song over all my footage while ensuring I muted all footage. In addition, I used various effects on iMovie to increase the complexity and overall depth to my video. I used effects like slow motion and reverse to help me achieve this. Overall, my video is exactly two minutes long and exactly how I envisioned it.

On Tuesday, I took the liberty to finally finish filming my music video. Since there was no school, I went to the beach with a myriad of friends and got new footage to add to my music video. I got footage underwater, using my GoPro, and action shots of my participating friends playing volleyball. As our deadline for the music video approaches, I am continuing my editing. By this weekend, I am to finish my video and lay my song over the footage.
